(2-cyanobenzyl)zinc(II) broMide - Introduction
2-Cyanobenzylzinc bromide is an organic zinc compound with the chemical formula C8H6BrN2Zn. It is a colorless solid, soluble in organic solvents such as dimethylformamide (DMF) and tetrahydrofuran (THF).
2-Cyanobenzylzinc bromide is mainly used for cross-coupling reactions in organic synthesis. It can be used as an acceptor reagent, and organic halide Grignard reaction, generate the corresponding organic zinc reagent. These organozinc reagents can react with other organohalides or organic acid esters to form new linkages of carbon-carbon bonds. This reaction is widely used in the synthesis of natural products, drugs and functional molecules.
The preparation of 2-Cyanobenzylzinc bromide is mainly obtained by the reaction of zinc bromide and 2-cyanobenzyl bromide. First, 2-cyanobenzyl bromide is combined with fine zinc powder and the reaction is heated in a suitable solvent. The pure 2-Cyanobenzylzinc bromide is then obtained by extraction and purification steps.
In the operation of 2-Cyanobenzylzinc bromide need to pay attention to safety. It is highly irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract. During operation, appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn, such as chemical protective gloves, safety glasses and protective masks. At the same time, it should be operated in a well-ventilated place to avoid inhalation of gas or contact with skin. When storing and handling, it should be properly sealed and stored in a dry, cool, ventilated place, and away from fire and oxidizing agents. Please read the relevant chemical safety instructions carefully before use.
